Restaurant Nosztalgia, as the name suggests, harks back to Hungary's glorious past and the décor, along with the menu, serves as a reminder of this little country's once great influence. The restaurant features waiters dressed in traditional costume and photographs depicting the city during the so-called "happy times" period. Furthermore, classic national dishes, such as cold goose liver starters, spicy chicken paprikas and fresh-water fish from Lake Balaton, make up the mouth-watering menu, along with Mediterranean-inspired weekly specials. The restaurant also boasts nightly performances from local musicians who incorporate the venue's old-meets-new theme in their show, with everything from Hungarian folk songs and gypsy music to more modern dance music to finish off the evening. Regular wine dinners and evenings complete the busy programme of centrally located Nosztalgia Restaurant which can be found near to the Basilica and Deak tér in the elegant Fifth District.
