Ruszwurm

Visitors to Hungary may come with no prior knowledge of the country, the culture or the language, but when they leave, of the memories they'll take with them, none will be as sweet as those experienced in a cukrászda - the Hungarian word for a confectioner's shop. And perhaps the most famous of all cukrászda in Budapest is the close to 180 year old Ruszwurm, located in the historic Castle Area of the city not far from Matthias Church.Through the doorway the eyes are immediately drawn to the antique furnishings of the surroundings giving the shop a traditional 19th century feel. The display cabinet is next to catch the attention. Shrills of delight echo back and forth from visitor to visitor as their eyes come to rest on the exquisite selection of cakes and pastries crammed neatly onto each shelf. Of particular regard is the Ruszwurm Krémes, which is truly the best Krémes in Hungary!
